United Nations Human Settlements Program – Kenya

While in graduate school, I decided to apply for an internship at the UN in Kenya. I had always wanted to understand how the UN functions though I have to admit that’s it’s a beast and my internship was not long enough to fully understand its many facets.

• Formulated concept notes for donors about various gender inclusive projects within the organization.
• Composed a Gender Toolkit for donors about the significance of gender mainstreaming at UN-Habitat.
• Evaluated over 100 youth-led development proposals from around the world, streamlined proposal review process and joined the Selection Committee to make final funding decisions.
• Conducted interviews, reviewed projects, and compiled partnership strategies for a publication about the partnership between Cities Alliance and UN-Habitat.
