Design Thinking

Design thinking improves the world around us because it helps us reframe problems in human-centric ways and develop relevant and innovative solutions. My training in the design process taught me how to use human-centered design to better understand, design and evaluate products or programs. I am particularly interested in ICT4D applications such as mobile data collection tools and web GIS apps.

Sector Expertise

I work across a variety of sectors including land tenure and natural resource management, housing, economic development, human rights, governance, global health and disaster risk response. It is critical to understand how these systems are interrelated and how they can be improved to increase quality of life. I completed my graduate degree in urban planning with specializations in international development and women's empowerment.

Research & Evaluation

I have extensive experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods such as household surveys, online surveys, focus group discussions and key informant interviews. From carefully crafting the surveys, structuring M&E indicators, conducting in-country data collection in challenging contexts to summarizing and triangulating results, my research and analysis skills are sharp and ensure that I ask the right questions.

Knowledge Dissemination

While I love collecting and organizing data from research and evaluation endeavors, I excel at figuring out the best way to synthesize, share and disseminate this information across a diverse audience. This ensures that all relevant stakeholders can understand and act on lessons learned. I use various creative knowledge sharing methods including visual storytelling with data, web maps, infographics, story maps, photo essays, blog posts and other creative methods.
